Every New York resident deserves comprehensive, affordable, and accessible quality healthcare.

As a wife and mother, I understand the need to ensure your family has access to healthcare that allows you to stay in budget even when an unexpected illness or injury occurs.

As your New York State Senator, I will support the New York Health Act to provide comprehensive, universal health coverage for every New Yorker. There must be complete and comprehensive healthcare option open to all New York residents, that is truly affordable. This healthcare must be coordinated and well-regulated, and in cooperation with heath care providers.

As a breast cancer survivor, I understand how critical it is to fight for advances in women’s health, greater access to diagnostic testing, and support for families during a health crisis. As a woman, I understand the need for equality in healthcare that ensures the right to access medical care that is specific to a woman’s health needs.

In recent years major strides have been made in strengthening women’s health care in New York. As your New York State Senator, I will continue to support legislation such as the recently passed “Shannon’s Law” which requires large group insurers to cover women aged 35-39 for mammograms deemed medically necessary.

As your New York State Senator, I will work with our school districts to expand the high school health curriculum to bring a greater awareness about breast self-exams to young women and men.  I will advocate for continued complete access to contraceptives, and safe spaces designated for breastfeeding.
